Thesis Collection by Aideen Gaynor

Bugs Garson is a narrative of Aideen’s grandma, Eleanor, who used Bugs Garson as a nom de plume in love letters to her thumper. Aideen’s thesis is inspired by love letters between her grandparents from 1948, illustrating their postwar lives. In the collection, she incorporates photographs, her grandparents’ belongings, and her own personal connections with the people, places, and events. Throughout her pieces, she uses surface manipulation, printed and painted textile, and silhouette references.
